Today we proceed to Petra via Madaba, the City of Mosaics, which has the oldest known mosaic map of the Holy Land. We then view the Jordan Valley from the famous Mount Nebo and also visit the Byzantine Church here. Thereafter we go on to the Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on Earth at 400 meters below sea level. Overnight in Petra.
Today we start with a guided walking city tour of Petra, which was also known as the Rose City in the Bible due to the colour of the stone from which it is carved. It was lost to the world for five centuries until it was rediscovered in 1812. We enter Petra on horseback through a narrow gorge carved in the sandstone and opening onto a stunning view of the Treasury, made famous in the movie ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’. We visit the Palace, the High Palaces and the Roman-Style Palace Tomb. Overnight in Amman.
Today proceed to the airport for flight to Cairo. On arrival proceed to your hotel & check in. This evening we see the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and enjoy the history of the ancient Egyptians. The show begins with the story of the Sphinx who has been the vigilant guardian of the Pyramids for five thousand years. Overnight in Cairo.
On today`s trip to Alexandria, we visit the Citadel of Qaitbay which is situated at the entrance of the eastern harbour on the eastern point of the Pharos Island. It was erected on the exact site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Later we proceed to visit Bibliotheca Alexandrina which is a major library and cultural center & the Al- Abbas al-Mursi Mosque which is an Egyptian mosque in the city of Alexandria. Overnight at the hotel in Cairo.
Wake up and grab a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Early morning, check out of the hotel and get transferred to the Cairo domestic airport to board your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival in Aswan airport, proceed for a guided trip to the High Dam and the Temple of Philae. The latter is a special site, a shrine to Isis: your guide will explain how UNESCO took steps to relocate it to save it from flooding. Thereafter, proceed to the Nile cruise for check-in. Overnight on-board the cruise.
Enjoy a lovely breakfast onboard. You may opt to tour great Temples of Abu Simble (additional cost). Flanked by four giant stone statues of Ramses II. The Temple was reclaimed from the dam to rescue from the rising water of Lake Nasser and reconstructed in its present site. Prepare to be blown away by the magnificence of these temples. They are undisputedly one of the world's most breathtaking monuments, and Egypt's second most visited touristic site. The most remarkable feature of the temple of Abu-Simbel is that the construction is oriented in a way that twice a year, the morning sun rays shine through the length of the inner temple cave and illuminate the statues of the four gods seated at the end of the cave. Next up, Sail to Kom Ombo to visit The Ptolemaic Temple shared by two gods Sobek & Haeroris. Visit the Kom Ombo Temple which is about 30 miles (48 km) north of Aswan and was built during the Graeco-Roman period. The temple is unique because it is in fact a double temple, dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god, and Horus the falcon-headed god. The layout combines two temples in one with each side having its own gateways and chapels. The rest of the day is spent sailing to Edfu. Overnight on-board the cruise.
Once we've eaten and with batteries fully charged, we'll visit the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the God Horus. The cruise will then continue on its way towards Esna, where we'll cross the famous floodgate. Having arrived at the majestic city of Luxor (the ancient Thebes, once the capital) we'll visit two of the most spectacular temples in the country, the Luxor and Karnak temples, separated in antiquity by the Avenue of the Sphinxes, three kilometres long. Here we'll eat and spend the night anchored in Luxor.
Having eaten and checked out, around 8 am , then we'll take you to the Luxor airport to catch your Cairo flight. On arrival at the Cairo airport board on your next flight for New Delhi India.
