Vietnam, the less famous holiday destination, is one of the best places to visit next, if you are on the process of planning a trip soon. Not only does it have beautiful beaches but it is also an art and culture hub along with its lip-smacking food. Not to forget, a trip to Vietnam is likely to cost you much less than any of it’s more famous counterparts, and yet you end up missing almost, nothing they might have to offer. Given below are five reasons why Vietnam should be the next destination your passport should have a stamp of.

Exquisite beaches

Even though the beaches at Vietnam are less known than those at Phillipines and Thailand, they are equally beautiful and attractive. Since they are yet to become popular beach destinations, now would be a good time to visit and enjoy some peace and quiet, as once it starts to get commercialised, its sure to be a huge crowd puller. Some of the must visit beaches are – Nha Trang, Da Nang, Lang Ko and Hoi An. While checking out the beaches, remember to have a look at some of the oldest and most beautiful natural caves (at Dong Ho)

 Ha Long Bay

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is basically as the name suggests, a bay, surrounded by 1000 islands all around it! Imagine the beauty, as you get off land, board your boat and see island all around you, everywhere you look. Best part? There is provision to stay in these islands as well. It is one of the most beautiful site to wake up to.


Vietnam has one of the best Asian food available. The world famous Pho – a meat, vegetable and noodle soup, are to die for. Not to fret for vegetarians as a veg variant of the same is available too. Fresh egg rolls, spring rolls, fish rolls, Bahn Xeo, Bahn Mi, seafood pancakes, spicy and tasty dipping sauces delectable desserts – you name it, Vietnam has it. From Hanoi to Saigon – everywhere you go, you’ll find the the same food prepared differently, and you’re bound to fall in love with every variant! The street food available is not only tasty but cheap and nutritious too!  P.S – If you’re adventurous, you could also opt for exotic food items, which are a specialty there. As is well known, Vietnam has a very harsh history in the form of the bloody Vietnam War. If you’re a history buff and willing to know what the past, Vietnam is a place you must consider. All thoughout Vietnam, you’ll come across many war site in Saigon – some of which have been turned into museums and memorial sites and in Hanoi – where you find the famed Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Ho Chi Minh Stilt House. A famous French prison known as Hoa La Prison, which has now been converted into a museum, depits the harsh treatment which was metted out to the Vietnames prisoners by their French jailers. Thus, in order to rattle your history nerves, Vietnam is a must visit.

Vietnam is bound to be a cost effective trip because the hostel stays as well as dorms which are available, provide rooms for as less as $5 (which roughly amounts to Rs. 357), per night and cheap, healthy, filling street food can easily be availed for $1-$2 (which roughly amounts to Rs. 71 – 142). It doesn’t get cheaper than this, and the best part is, you miss out on nothing because Vietnam offers you all that it’s costlier counterparts offer, maybe something even more!
